The Last Slice Short Story for Kids

Sharing is caring!

It was a Sunday afternoon, and the aroma of fresh pizza filled the house. Arjun, his younger sister, and their parents had just finished their lunch. The table was full of empty plates, except for one last slice of pizza sitting in the middle.

Arjun looked at his sister, Priya, who was eyeing the slice too. They both loved pizza, but neither wanted to be the one to ask for the last piece.

Their parents were cleaning up, busy with their plates, when Priya whispered, “Do you want the last slice?”

Arjun hesitated, then smiled. “No, you can have it.”

Priya shook her head. “You have it. You’re older!”

Arjun laughed and reached for the slice. But just as his hand touched the pizza, their mother turned around. “What’s this? Fighting over pizza?” she asked, with a playful smile.

“No, Mom,” Arjun said quickly. “We were just deciding who should take the last slice.”

Their mother chuckled and picked up the slice. “How about I split it between you both?” she suggested.

Arjun and Priya exchanged a quick glance and agreed. They each took half, and as they ate, they laughed about how they’d spent more time deciding than actually eating.

It wasn’t just the pizza that made the moment special—it was the simple joy of sharing it together.
