English Conversations About Podcasts and Audiobooks
Alex: Hey Jamie! I was just thinking about how much I’ve been getting into podcasts and audiobooks lately. Have you been into either of those recently?
Jamie: Oh hey, Alex! Yes, I’ve been diving into both lately. It’s like a whole new world of entertainment and learning for me. What about you? What have you been listening to?
Alex: I’ve been all over the place! I’ve got this true crime podcast that I’m hooked on and a few audiobooks on personal development. I find it so nice to listen to something while I’m on the go or just winding down. What do you like to listen to?
Jamie: That sounds great! I’m really into storytelling podcasts right now. I love hearing different people’s experiences and perspectives. For audiobooks, I’m currently enjoying a fantasy novel. It’s like a mini escape from reality!
Alex: Fantasy novels are the best for that! Do you have a favorite podcast or audiobook that you’d recommend?
Jamie: For podcasts, I’d recommend Radiolab—it’s so thought-provoking and has amazing stories. For audiobooks, if you haven’t read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, it’s a magical experience!
Alex: Oh, I’ve heard of Radiolab but haven’t checked it out yet. I’ll definitely give it a listen. And The Night Circus sounds intriguing—I’ll add it to my list. Do you listen to podcasts and audiobooks mostly at home or on the move?
Jamie: I mostly listen to them during my commute or while I’m exercising. It’s such a good way to make those moments more enjoyable. What about you?
Alex: I’m the same way! I listen during my morning walk or while I’m doing chores around the house. It makes those tasks a bit more fun and productive.
Jamie: Totally agree! Do you use any specific apps for your podcasts or audiobooks?
Alex: I use Spotify for podcasts and Audible for audiobooks. What about you?
Jamie: I’m a fan of Apple Podcasts for my podcasts and Libby for borrowing audiobooks from the library. It’s a great way to get access to a ton of content for free!
Alex: That’s a great tip! I’ll have to check out Libby. It sounds like a great resource.
Jamie: Definitely! Plus, it’s nice to support the library system that way. Do you have a go-to genre for your podcasts and audiobooks?
Alex: I’m pretty flexible with genres, but I guess I lean towards mystery and self-help. What’s your go-to?
Jamie: I’m all about non-fiction for podcasts—anything from history to science. For audiobooks, I’m more into fiction, especially if it’s something immersive.
Alex: Nice mix! I think that balance makes for a really interesting media diet. Maybe we should swap recommendations more often!
Jamie: Absolutely! I’d love that. We could even set up a little book club or podcast club if you’re up for it!
Alex: That sounds like a lot of fun! Let’s definitely plan on it.

Taylor: Hey Morgan! I was just about to start a new podcast episode. Do you listen to any podcasts or audiobooks?
Morgan: Hi Taylor! Oh yeah, I’m a huge fan of both. I’ve been really into podcasts lately, but I’m also working through a couple of audiobooks. What about you?
Taylor: That’s awesome! I’ve been exploring different podcasts for inspiration and motivation, and I just finished a great audiobook on history. What kind of podcasts do you usually listen to?
Morgan: I’m really into true crime and mystery podcasts right now. There’s something so gripping about trying to piece together the clues. For audiobooks, I’ve been diving into classic literature. I just started Pride and Prejudice!
Taylor: True crime podcasts are so addictive! I’ve listened to Serial and loved it. And Pride and Prejudice is a fantastic choice for a classic novel. How are you finding it so far?
Morgan: Pride and Prejudice is such a delightful read! It’s a bit of a change from my usual genres, but I’m really enjoying the wit and the romance. Do you have a favorite podcast episode or audiobook you’d recommend?
Taylor: For sure! If you like true crime, you might enjoy Criminal—each episode is a different story and they’re all really well done. As for audiobooks, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt was an incredible listen for me.
Morgan: Oh, I’ll definitely check out Criminal. I’ve heard great things about The Goldfinch, so I’ll have to add it to my list. How do you usually find new podcasts or audiobooks?
Taylor: I mostly rely on recommendations from friends or what’s trending in podcast apps. Sometimes I’ll browse through Audible or Goodreads for new audiobooks. How do you discover new ones?
Morgan: I use a mix of apps and reviews. Sometimes I’ll find recommendations on social media or through book and podcast blogs. It’s a fun way to see what’s out there!
Taylor: That’s a good approach! I should probably start exploring more through blogs and social media. Do you listen to podcasts and audiobooks during specific times of the day?
Morgan: I usually listen to podcasts while I’m working out or during my commute. For audiobooks, I’ll listen in the evenings or on weekends when I’m relaxing. What’s your routine like?
Taylor: I listen to podcasts during my daily walks and audiobooks when I’m winding down before bed. It’s a nice way to end the day.
Morgan: That sounds perfect! It’s nice to have those little moments of escape. Do you ever switch between different genres depending on your mood?
Taylor: Absolutely! Sometimes I’m in the mood for something light and fun, and other times I want something deep and thought-provoking. How about you?
Morgan: Same here! I’ll switch between genres based on what I’m in the mood for, too. It keeps things interesting!
Taylor: Totally! It’s one of the best parts of exploring podcasts and audiobooks. Maybe we should share more of our favorites with each other from now on.
Morgan: I’d love that! Let’s definitely keep each other updated on our latest finds.
Taylor: Sounds like a plan! I’m excited to hear what you discover next!
