A Short Comedy Story: The Hungry Crocodile
Sharing is caring!
In a quiet river, there lived a crocodile named Chomp. Chomp was very big and strong, but there was one problem—he was always hungry! No matter how much he ate, he could never fill his stomach.
One sunny day, Chomp saw a turtle named Tilly swimming by. Tilly was very slow but always had a smile on her face.
“Hello, Tilly!” Chomp said. “I’m hungry. Do you have any food?”
Tilly thought for a moment and then said, “I don’t have food, Chomp. But I have an idea! There is a big watermelon growing on the riverbank. It’s delicious! You should try it!”
Chomp’s eyes grew wide. “Watermelon? That sounds amazing!” he said, rubbing his belly.
Tilly led Chomp to the riverbank. There, sitting in the sun, was the biggest watermelon Chomp had ever seen. He quickly tried to bite into it—but he couldn’t. His sharp teeth just bounced off the smooth skin!
“Hmm, I can’t bite it!” Chomp said, scratching his head. “What should I do?”
Tilly chuckled and said, “Why don’t you try using your big tail to knock it over?”
Chomp tried swinging his tail. Thwack! The watermelon rolled over and fell into the water, right next to Chomp. He smiled and dove in to eat it—but, oh no! It was too big to fit in his mouth.
Frustrated, Chomp sighed, “This watermelon is too tricky to eat! Why does everything seem so hard when you’re hungry?”
Tilly swam around in circles, giggling. “Maybe you’re eating too fast, Chomp. Sometimes, it’s better to take your time!”
Chomp finally took a deep breath. Slowly, he nudged the watermelon and, with a little help from Tilly, cracked it open! Inside, the watermelon was juicy and sweet. Chomp took a big bite and, for the first time in a long while, he felt full and happy.
“Thanks, Tilly! You saved the day,” Chomp said with a grin.
Tilly smiled back. “Remember, Chomp, good things come to those who wait!”
And from that day on, Chomp learned to be a little more patient and enjoy his food. But he still stayed hungry for a little bit of fun.
