A Bedtime Story – The Brave Little Duckling

Sharing is caring!

In a peaceful pond surrounded by tall grasses and colorful flowers, there lived a little duckling named Daisy.

Daisy was soft and yellow, with tiny, webbed feet and a cheerful quack.

She lived with her family, who were all skilled swimmers.

Every day, Daisy would watch her brothers and sisters glide gracefully across the water.

But there was one problem—Daisy was afraid of the water.

Whenever her family went for a swim, Daisy would stand at the edge of the pond, her tiny wings shaking.

She watched them dive and splash, having so much fun, but she couldn’t bring herself to join them. The thought of the deep, cool water made her nervous.

“Why am I so scared?” Daisy would ask herself. “I’m a duckling. I’m supposed to swim like everyone else.”

One sunny afternoon, Daisy’s family decided to take a trip across the pond.

It was a long way to the other side, and everyone was excited to make the journey.

Daisy’s brothers and sisters jumped into the water without hesitation, but Daisy stayed behind, watching from the shore.

“Come on, Daisy!” her mother called out. “Don’t be afraid. The water is wonderful!”

Daisy shook her head. “I can’t, Mama. I’m too scared. What if I sink?”

Her mother smiled gently. “You’re a duck, Daisy. You were born to swim. You just have to trust yourself.”

Daisy wasn’t so sure, but she didn’t want to be left behind. After a moment of hesitation, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and waddled to the water’s edge.

She dipped her little feet into the cool pond and felt a strange feeling of calm wash over her.

“This isn’t so bad,” she thought, dipping her feet in deeper.

But just as she was about to go in all the way, she heard a loud sound from the far side of the pond.

It was a cry for help!

Daisy looked around quickly. She saw a small frog caught on a lily pad, struggling to get free.

The poor frog was trapped and couldn’t move.

Without thinking, Daisy flapped her wings and waddled toward the water’s edge. “I have to help him!” she thought.

Gathering all her courage, Daisy stepped into the pond, feeling the cool water around her. She waded forward, her webbed feet making soft splashes.

The water didn’t feel as scary as she thought it would. In fact, it felt kind of nice.

When Daisy reached the lily pad, she carefully helped the frog free. “Thank you, Daisy!” the frog croaked happily. “You saved me!”

Daisy felt proud of herself. She had helped someone in need, and the water didn’t feel so scary after all. She swam back to the shore, her little wings flapping with excitement.

“See, Daisy?” her mother said, watching from the shore. “You’re a natural swimmer! You just needed to trust yourself.”

Daisy smiled and nodded. She had been afraid, but helping the frog made her realize that she was stronger than she thought.

From that day on, Daisy swam every day with her family.

She wasn’t afraid of the water anymore.

She had learned that sometimes, the things that scare us the most are the things we need to face head-on. And with a little courage, we can do amazing things.

Moral of the Story: Daisy the Duckling teaches us that courage isn’t the absence of fear.

It’s facing your fears and believing in yourself.

Sometimes, all it takes is a small step to realize that you are stronger and braver than you think!
