The Last Vote English Story for Kids

In the country of Bellmere, elections were just a show. Every five years, the people voted, but the result was always the same—President Harold Vance won. He had ruled for thirty years, using fear and lies to stay in power.

“This year will be no different,” people said. “Why even vote?”

But this time, something changed.

A young journalist named Liam discovered a secret. The government had been changing the vote counts for years. The people never really chose their leader—the results were decided before the election even happened.

Liam knew this truth could be dangerous. But he also knew the people deserved to know.

One night, he printed thousands of secret flyers and spread them across the city. The message was simple:

“Your vote has never been counted. But what if, this time, it was?”

People woke up to find the flyers everywhere. In markets, on buses, in schools—everyone was talking about it.

President Vance was furious. “Find the person who did this!” he ordered.

Liam knew he was in danger, but something amazing happened. The people, for the first time, felt powerful.

On election day, they did something unexpected. They came out in huge numbers—not just to vote, but to watch the votes being counted.

The government tried to cheat again, but this time, people refused to leave. They guarded the polling stations all night.

By morning, the truth was clear—the real winner was a new leader, a professor named Elena Carter.

President Vance tried to stop the results, but the people had made their choice. Even his own guards refused to obey him.

As he packed his bags, Vance muttered, “One vote never changes anything.”

But he was wrong.

Because this time, the people had counted every single one.
