Two Interesting English Stories for Kids
A Tale of Two Wishes
Once upon a time, there were two friends named Raj and Maya. They lived in a small village near a big forest.
One sunny afternoon, while playing near the trees, they found a shiny golden coin lying on the ground.
Raj picked up the coin and looked at it closely. It had strange symbols on it. “This must be special,” he said. Maya was curious too. She asked, “What do you think it does?”
Suddenly, a small voice echoed from the coin. “I am a magical coin. You can each make one wish,” the voice said.
Raj and Maya looked at each other, their eyes wide with excitement. “One wish? Just one?” Raj asked.
“Yes, only one wish each,” the voice answered.
Raj thought for a moment. He loved to play games with his friends, but his village had no toys. “I wish for a toy shop in our village,” he said with a smile.
The coin shined brightly, and suddenly, a little toy shop appeared in the middle of the village. The door opened, and inside were toys of all kinds!
Maya was amazed but still thinking. She had always loved helping people. She wanted everyone in the village to be happy and healthy. “I wish for everyone in our village to always have enough food to eat and be healthy,” she said.
The coin shined again, and just like that, the fields around the village became full of crops. There was enough food for everyone, and the people felt better than ever.
Raj and Maya stood there, feeling happy with their wishes. The coin spoke one last time, “Your wishes are granted. Remember, true happiness comes from sharing and caring for others.”
From that day on, Raj and Maya played with their new toys, but they always shared them with the other children.
The village was full of joy, and everyone had enough food. Raj and Maya learned that the best wishes are the ones that help others.
And so, they lived happily ever after.
The Silent City
Once upon a time, there was a city called the Silent City. It was a strange place because no one ever spoke a word.
The streets were quiet, and the houses were still. There were no sounds of laughter or talking, only the soft sound of wind in the trees.
The people in the Silent City had a secret. They could speak, but they had forgotten how to.
Many years ago, the people used to talk and laugh, but one day, the words stopped coming. Everyone in the city became quiet. No one knew why.
In this city, there lived a young girl named Lila. She was curious and brave. Lila loved to explore, but she always felt lonely.
She wanted to hear the voices of the people, but every time she tried to speak to someone, they only smiled and looked away. They did not say a word.
One day, Lila found an old book in the library. It was dusty, and the pages were yellow. She opened the book and read the first sentence: “To speak again, you must remember the words you have lost.”
Lila was puzzled. “How can I remember the words?” she wondered. She decided to find out.
She went to the town square and sat on the old stone bench. She closed her eyes and thought hard.
She remembered the sound of birds singing, the laughter of children playing, and the sound of her mother calling her name. She thought about these things until her heart felt warm.
Suddenly, she heard a soft whisper in the wind. “The words are inside you,” the wind seemed to say. Lila opened her eyes and smiled. She knew what she had to do.
The next morning, Lila stood in the middle of the square. She took a deep breath and spoke the first word she could think of: “Hello.” Her voice was soft, but it was the first sound the city had heard in many years.
To her surprise, the people of the city gathered around her. One by one, they began to speak.
First, a man said, “Good morning.” Then a woman said, “How are you?” Slowly, the silence broke, and the city was filled with the sound of voices.
From that day on, the people of the Silent City remembered how to speak. They talked, laughed, and shared stories.
The city was no longer silent. It was full of life and love, all thanks to a brave girl who remembered the words.
And so, the Silent City was no longer silent, and everyone lived happily ever after.
